Mike Coffman Accepts More NRA Campaign Cash, Doubles Down on His Support of the Gun Lobby

Aurora, CO – Rep. Mike Coffman yesterday reported more donations from the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA) in his fundraising report for the most recent filing period. The gun lobby, which doubled its contribution to the campaign this election cycle, has spent over $100,000 to keep career politician Mike Coffman in office.

Coffman was booed by his own constituents at a town hall this year, as he refused – even in the aftermath of the Parkland tragedy – to take on the gun lobby and pass comprehensive, common-sense reforms to our gun laws.

Please attribute this statement to Jason Crow, Democratic candidate for Colorado’s 6th Congressional District:

“When Mike Coffman’s constituents booed him at a town hall for his failure to stand up to the NRA, they might have thought he’d get the message. But his willingness to take the gun lobby’s money, once again, trumps his willingness to stand up for Coloradans.

“This is a personal issue for every family in our district – from students who rehearse ‘bad guy’ drills, to parents who want weapons of war out of their neighborhoods. If our congressman can’t turn down some campaign cash to show Coloradans he values their safety, then it’s time to elect someone who can.”

Coffman has received more money from the gun lobby than any other member of Colorado’s congressional delegation. He has voted with Republicans to make it easier for the severely mentally ill to buy guns and has opposed allowing a vote on common sense background checks for gun purchases.

Jason’s first ad of this campaign cycle, “Enough,” focuses on gun violence prevention. He has been endorsed by gun violence prevention advocates like Gabby Giffords and Capt. Mark Kelly and is a Moms Demand gun sense candidate of distinction. Read Jason’s plan to combat gun violence here.
