Mike Coffman Still Refuses to Hold His Party Accountable, Even as Donor and Accused Sexual Predator Enabler Announces Run for Speaker of the House

Aurora – As Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced his run for Speaker of the House today, Rep. Mike Coffman continued his refusal to speak out against his disgraced colleague. Jordan, who has been credibly accused of turning a blind eye to rampant sexual harassment as a coach of the Ohio State University wrestling team, has refused to step down from Congress – instead seeking a promotion within the Republican Party.

True to form, Mike Coffman’s silence has been bought and paid for by campaign contributions. Jordan contributed $4,000 to Coffman’s reelection campaign in 2014, and $1,000 in 2012.

Please attribute this statement to Mitch Schwartz, Communications Director for Jason Crow for Congress:

“There are myriad policy and political reasons why Jim Jordan should not be the Speaker of the House. But more importantly, today presented Mike Coffman with a chance to take a bold and unequivocal stance against sexual predators and those who enable them. Today – like every day since these credible allegations were made public – was the day Coffman could have made it clear that the Republican Party is not a safe haven for people like Jim Jordan.

“Instead, he said nothing.”
